Oneonta Congregational Church in South Pasadena Presented Elena Thomas of Pasadena with the 2013 Oneonta Scholarship.
Church officials paid tribute to Thomas, noting her dedication to hard work and love in seeing people grow.
The scholarship was presented by Oneonta’s Vice Moderator Peter Becronis and Christian Education chairperson Wendell Webster.
“It is a pleasure to award Oneonta’s 2013 scholarship to Elena Thomas,” said Becronis, pleased that the church could reward her dedication, talents and commitment.
Elena is now a junior in the University of California Riverside majoring in business
administration with a concentration in general management.
Thomas hopes to someday manage a firm and possibly run a non-profit organization. “We congratulate her on this award and give our blessings and prayers to her future endeavors,” said Becronis.
The Oneonta Congregational Church Scholarship Program is funded by the
Chupac-Meserve Memorial Endowment Scholarship Fund and the J. Edward and
Ruby L. Tufft Educational Fund. The Chupac-Meserve Fund awards a scholarship to persons who are considered to be outstanding members of the young people’s group here at Oneonta. The purpose of the Tufft Fund as it has historically been interpreted is to provide educational assistance for worthy
