Major construction is underway on Mound Avenue between Mission and Hope streets as work crews prepare to resurface the roadway.
Curb, gutter, sidewalk and driveway improvements will be made as part of the project, which calls for a 10-inch deep concrete pad to be installed in front of the South Pasadena Fire Department.
“It’s designed to handle the weight of the fire trucks [coming in and out of the station],” explained Gabe Nevarez, the City of South Pasadena’s public works project manager.
Final paving on the project is scheduled for Monday, September 30, and, after the road is striped Nevarez expects the street to reopen the first week of October.
During construction, Nevarez said Mound Avenue will be closed to traffic.
